# Technical Requirements

This tutorial has the following technical requirements.

## Hardware

Minimum hardware specification:

| Component | Specification |
| --- | --- |
| CPU | Intel Core 2 Duo or better (ideally Intel Core i7) |
| Memory | 4-GB RAM (ideally 8 GB) |
| Hard drive | 2 GB available space or better |
| Display | Two 19" screens or better (per pair of delegates) |

## Operating system

Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit or Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit

## User privileges

Local administrator privileges.

Permission to edit the hosts file (`C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts`).

## Software

Install the following software packages on training computers prior to training. Before installing, read [Setting up the development environment](../caplin-platform-integration-suite/platbsc-setting-up-the-development-environment.md).

* OpenJDK 8 or OpenJDK 11, with the `JAVA_HOME` environment variable set to the installation root of the JDK (see [Installing Java](../../caplin-platform/deployment-framework/cdf-installing-java.md))
* [Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers (64-bit)](https://www.eclipse.org) or [JetBrain’s IntelliJ IDEA](https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/)
* [Google Chrome](https://www.google.com/chrome/)
* (Windows only)  [Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-160)
* (Windows only) [Cygwin](https://www.cygwin.com/) or  [Git for Windows](https://git-scm.com/download/win)

## Network access

Each training computer must have Internet access (for downloading software) and be accessible on the network by a fully-qualified host name.
